  • Bio

    James Carrington is an emerging singer, songwriter and actor from the U.K. After studying at Edinburgh University, Carrington gained an acting diploma from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He has appears in such shows as "Eastenders," "London's Burning," and "Out of Sight". Carrington originally formed the band Little Giants in 1999, signed a publishing deal with Bucks Music in 1999 before writing some extraordinary new material that formed his own debut album and live sound. Carrington's music mixed the sound of intricate acoustic guitar, piano, oboe, violin, cello and occasionally trumpet. Carrington has been compared to such luminaries as David Gray, James Taylor and Paul McCartney and his inspirational music has attracted the attention of such stars as Sheryl Crow and Coldplay, who both regard themselves as fans. In May of 2005, Carrington appeared at MUSEXPO in Los Angeles at the invitation of Sat Bisla (A&R Worldwide), who co-organized the event. He then signed a publishing deal with Cheeky Music (Faithless, Dido) and subsequently a record deal with Champion records in 2006. In November of 2006, Carrington's song "Ache" was featured in the hit U.S. television series "Smallville." Fans immediately began to ask about the musician behind the song and demand for Carrington has begun gaining increasing exponentially. Since the "Smallville" debut, "Ache" has also been featured worldwide in "ER", "Side Order of Life" and "The Evidence". Carrington has recently completed recording his debut album, which will feature the mighty talents of Michael Landau, Luis Conte, Tom Coster, Abe Laboriel and Abe Laboriel Jr. The album has been produced and financed by Klaus Badelt, who has rapidly become one of the biggest film composers in Hollywood over the last few years (Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, Poseidon, Premonition and Constantine). Klaus recently finished the score for a film called 'Rescue Dawn' (Directed by Werner Herzog and starring Christian Bale). Upon viewing the film, James was inspired to write a song. Klaus loved it and promptly put him in a studio with Craig Eastman and "Lights" evolved into a track that appeared on the soundtrack of the film. James Guthrie (Grammy Award winning Pink Floyd producer and engineer) is currently mixing the soon to be titled record. It will be mastered by Doug Sax who has worked with such luminaries as The Who, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, James Taylor and Jackson Browne. As a writer, James has also recently composed the music for the 2009 Toyota online campaign. He is currently in the process of writing the music for the 2009 Twinings advertising campaign with record producer and composer Magnus Fiennes alongside an albums worth of material for a new girl group signed to Universal records. He has also very recently been commissioned to write the theme song and additional material for a major new US TV show that is in development with Warner Bros.

FAN'S FROM ACROSS THE WORLD HAVE LEFT COMMENTS BELOW ON HIS SONG 'ACHE' WHICH HAS NOW APPEARED ON 4 US TV SHOWS (SMALLVILLE, ER, SIDE ORDER OF LIFE AND THE EVIDENCE)

Thank you so much for your music... My boyfriend just went into Boot camp for the Marines. I don't support it and it caused a lot of trouble before he left, but I miss him a lot and I would sign on everyday just to hear your song on his profile, and I just added it to mine. I felt like saying thank you because without knowing it you reached the life of a stranger just with your music, and I mailed him some of the lyrics and he knew I was listening to the songs on his profile and was really happy ... I don't really know what I'm saying here but I write a lot too and I love the songs and lyrics so Thank you again :) Take care. -Leah C.

I caught your song ache on the show and have to tell you I have told everyone I know and made them listen to it on my mp3 player. I can't describe to you how much my life happens to mirror that song right now. I am going through a separation and I miss my wife and this song really makes me think of her and how we were and how I wish we could be again. Anyway I happen to be really good friends with Edwin McCain(a local musician here in my town whose album went platinum) and sent him a copy of the song too as his sound is similar. At any rate Ache is currently my song of choice on my page and have also sent a friend request to you so I can add you to my site. It would be a honor. Thanks and I look forward to seeing your cd in stores soon.-Andre'

a close friend of mine passed away and there is a slide show of her with your song "ache" playing throughout it. your song gets me through and i'm sure many others

Actually, what happened was I have a "slideshow" thingy, if you see my myspace page you will see it...and the other day I signed onto my page and your song, "Ache" started playing automatically. When I touched the slideshow with my cursor accidentially, it showed the song title and the artist's name. I still have NO idea where it came from, it was the strangets thing. Well, I LOVED the song Ache, it SO spoke to my heart in many ways and so I searched it out to put on my page,...hope you dont mind! : }

i just wanted to send you a little note. i know that you get thanks all the time for your music. i just lost my grandmother last week and in the midst of all the grief, was working on my page and remembered that ache was the song I had put on it. the bittersweet tears of rememberence, i know she is listening. so thank you, thank you for helping me stay connected to her spirit and her love that I will miss so dearly.

I found you while searching for music on myspace, and I have to say with the situation that I've been going through, I can relate to your song ache... I know what it feels like to ache for someone.

just a note, to say thank you, for your music and the inspiration...Currently living in the middle of no-where, with friends and family scattered by the winds, it's nice to discover an artist, who feels the void with his gift of song - Thanks ever so much.

I would be honored to be included in your project . I love your song. If you don't mind I want to share this with you as well. I sent my wife this HUGE bouquet of flowers from a very prominent local florist here in Greenville SC. No card, but a copy of your song burned to a cd. You see, we haven't talked in over a month for more than a few minutes at a time about financial-duties that are included in a marriage. But last night she calls me and we talked for about 30 minutes about how we were when we met.. You know, the discovery of each other, the excitement of seeing and sharing our lives, the raw energy and emotion.. She says when we met it was kismet between us...and for 10 years I have believed that..until we separated. That is why at times my life has felt surreal. But anyway.. 2 things happened last night that I noticed...1 we talked like we used to.. not about bills or picking up dry cleaning or what groceries to get on the way home..but about what is happening in our lives now and our feelings/emotions/fears that revolve around this. I guess what I am trying to say is we connected like we did when we first started dating all those years ago. It was scary yet exciting at the same time(even a bit awkward). Though short there was progress. What it may mean, or may or may not happen I don't know, but I do believe that at the core we are still the same people that met 10 years ago...and met again last night. It was incredible. Oh and the second thing: She was playing the cd. It was on loop. She asked me who it was as I left the cd blank. I know it touched her too. She loves the song just as I do.

By using ANY part of my emails to you about how your music has influenced/inspired my life is an awesome compliment to me. Validation is not quite the right word but comes closest to what I feel.
So again, Thank You.

Ache has been such in integral part of my healing, I now listen with an even deeper level of understanding. The pain and sadness begins to transform into a quiet bittersweet peacefulness. A strange calm that is unfamiliar yet soothing. I wish you the most beautiful joy and success with the new undertaking and look forward to it. hoping for the muses to continue to wash thru you like a gentle wave.

I WAS WONDERING WHERE I CAN BUY YOUR CD THAT HAS THE SONG ACHE OR THE DEMO. I CANT FIND IT IN ANY STORE IN MESA ARIZONA. I WANTED TO GET IT BECAUSE I WANTED TO PLAY THIS SONG TO A GIRL WHO HAS BEEN A REALLY CLOSE FRIEND OF MINE THROUGH OUT THE GOOD TIMES AND THE BAD TIMES. I STARTED TO LIKE HER MORE THAN FRIENDS,BUT I DIDNT KNOW KNOW HOW TO EXPRESS MY FEELINGS WELL TO HER IN WORDS SO I WANTED TO SEND HER YOUR CD WITH A LETTER FOR THANKING HER FOR EVERY THING SHE'S DONE FOR ME AND TELLING HER HOW I FEEL ABOUT HER.SHE REALLY MEANS ALOT TO ME AND THE SONG YOU WROTE SOUNDS SIMILAR TO THE WAY I FEEL ABOUT HER.......SHE'S BEEN THE ONLY TRULY PERSON WHO WAS THERE FOR ME WHEN I LOST MY MOTHER TO CANCER BACK IN JUNE 14TH A DAY AFTER MY BIRTHDAY.

Your music is really amazing...I love your work and here in Brazil I know a lot of people who thinks the same, special after "ache" was played in Smallville.
